In Memory of Jan Doerr, ND
Jan Doerr, ND, devoted her life to helping others heal and thrive through natural medicine. She trained at the Naturopathic Institute of Therapy and Education and earned her Doctorate of Naturopathy from Clayton College of Natural Health. For eleven years, Jan built and ran her practice as its owner and sole employee—an endeavor sustained by her steady commitment to her clients and her calling.
Jan’s work was rooted in the belief that true wellness comes from honoring the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. She was passionate about improving her clients’ quality of life by strengthening each individual’s natural immune response and supporting the body’s ability to heal itself. Her approach integrated a wide range of natural therapies, including botanical and herbal medicine, nutritional education, homeopathy, essential oils, and massage. With care, patience, and deep respect for each person’s journey, Jan helped many reach a new level of optimal wellness.
A dedicated lifelong learner, Jan spent thousands of hours studying the disciplines of natural health through classroom work and directed studies. She continued her education through state-licensed and nationally accredited schools as well as seminar programs in Naturopathic Health, always striving to deepen her knowledge and bring the best of what she learned to those she served.
Jan was a member of Associated Bodywork Professionals and the American Naturopathic Medical Association.
Her educational journey reflected both her curiosity and compassion:
- 1978: Bachelor of Science, Psychology and Therapeutic Recreation, Central Michigan University
- 1979: Master of Arts, Recreation and Park Administration (emphasis in Recreation for the Ill and Handicapped), Central Michigan University
- 1980–1981: Postgraduate work, Central Michigan University and Concordia University (Canada)
- 2001–2005: Licensed Natural Health Educator, Naturopathic Therapist, Naturopathic Institute of Therapies & Education, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan
- 2004–2005: Doctorate of Naturopathy, Clayton College of Natural Health
Jan’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched—
through the comfort she offered,
the hope she restored,
and the steady encouragement
she gave to pursue healing in its fullest sense.
Now, her compassion moves through the lives she touched—
She remains in the courage to heal fully—
mind and muscle, grief and joy,
spirit and sleep—
in the belief she lived by:
that wholeness is possible,
and each person carries, within them,
a way back to well.
